At Epsom Downs, is a unique two-year provision which allows children to begin their journey in Nursery and continue seamlessly into Reception as part of one nurturing Early Years setting.
From the moment children join Rainbows, they become part of a warm and supportive community where relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Children learn alongside familiar adults and friends, building confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging over time.
Unlike many settings where children experience a significant change when moving into Reception, our children benefit from a gradual and carefully planned transition. From Nursery to Reception... and Beyond
Our children start Reception already feeling part of the school community. This gives them a flying start as they continue to develop their language, confidence, friendships and love of learning in an environment where they feel safe, valued and known.
How Children in Rainbows Learn.
We believe children learn best when they are happy, engaged and having lots of fun! Our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, encourage exploration and nurture a lifelong love of learning.
We place children at the heart of everything we do, following their interests, fascinations and natural curiosity and using these as a springboard for learning. When a child becomes captivated by dinosaurs, building, mud, music or a particular story, we seize the opportunity to extend their thinking, introduce new experiences and build on what they already know.
Through carefully planned play and meaningful interactions with adults, children are encouraged to explore, investigate, experiment, create, problem-solve and make connections. Our skilled practitioners know when to step in and extend learning, and when to step back and allow children the freedom to discover things for themselves.
Our curriculum and its delivery are carefully designed to ensure that every child, whatever their starting point, is supported to make very good progress.
